Two images of our star's
visible surface taken by Harold.
IMAGE LEFT was taken
through a 60 mm Coronade Solamax filter at about 0.8 Angstroms.
A prominence is clearly visible at this wave
length.
IMAGE RIGHT
is of the same spot, but taken using a Baader
Astro film and a 60 mm Tele Vue refractor. The spot or "hole" is in the
granulation of the solar photosphere. They are the centers of
intense localized magnetic fields exiting or entering through the
visible outer layer of the atmosphere exposing the cooler convective
zone below.
Both images were taken with a Lumanera Skynx Super
Web-Cam.
